About Greenfields NF Tor
Greenfields NF Tor is a spunky gelding by Greenfields NF Lodur out of Greenfields NF Norveig, born 17.09.2023. He is an inquisitive weanling fond of cuddles and play time with his buddies in the bachelor herd. He’s not the most dominant of the weanling boys, but also not a pushover and we’re loving the affable temperament he’s developed since gelding. We’re currently expecting him to be likely to mature in the 14.2hh range and be of a well boned, but not heavy set type.
Tor was a large foal who met his milestones after birth quickly and comfortably, and has continued to develop to expectation in the time since birth. His mum and he joined my other mare and her foal upon leaving the foaling area about a week or so after birth and trotted straight up to the other foal to invite play, and has done the same again as my other mares have joined the herd after foaling. He also interacts well with his father in paddock and the other mares.
We ensure all foals commence their hoof care journey within a week of birth and has been, and will continue to be seen by our farrier every five weeks. He leads reasonably well and stands well for a bath and the farrier. We have started to introduce cross ties and the angle grinder for farrier work to him and has a bit to go on that, but is taking it gently. We will continue working on developing his skills as a well handles weanling and float loading is on the agenda for him in the next few weeks.
Tor is vaccinated for Tetanus/Strangles, wormed as appropriate and have received his initial doses of the Hendra vaccine and is now available to his new home. He has beautiful expressive movements and we think he will be suited to any career you can think of. As he showed early signs of QLD itch Tor is looking for a home in areas less prone to itch for his long term well being.
The ideal home for Tor will be with someone who will have had experience with young horses in the past, or can otherwise show they’ll be capable of guiding him to develop into the the best possible version of himself. We want Tor to join a herd in his new home so he has playmates and guardians that can lead him onwards on the path to being a well rounded young horse. Extensive turnout is regarded as important to develop both the body and mind in a sustainable manner. We’d like him to have a new owner who will love and cherish him and is willing to allow him to grow and develop until at least 4 years old before starting him under saddle.
All horses are sold under contract developed by HorseForce. We urge you to request a copy of said contract as part of your due diligence.
We welcome vet checks on our horses, and are happy to assist in facilitating such checks. We would prefer vets selected for vet checks to be within an 80km radius of Upper Orara due to time allocation as most require us to travel the horse to them. Greenfield’s Stud has a pre-existing ongoing customer relationship with Pacific Vetcare and Equine Veterinary and Dental Services (EVDS).
